Back on the habits train this fine Tuesday morning. Yesterday I discussed some habit ideas for the creative entrepreneur. Today I am going to discuss the most important aspect of new habits: keeping the promise. This year, despite my botched ACL replacement, I wanted to get really fast again. I cannot run on flat ground, only on this cool self-powered treadmill at my gym called the True Form- no knee pain. When I started the year, I was a literal sloth on that treadmill. I remember struggling so much to run at a pace of 8- thought I could never run faster than that.

I used a few habit strategies to stick with my goal of getting fast. First, I wrote out the task every day I wanted to go to the gym. Gym- Check. If I wrote it there, I was gonna do it unless some major life event popped up. I for sure drug my feet to the gym somedays. And even almost walked back out on days where the gym was packed with hoards of “bros”. But I kept keeping the promise and I kept showing up. Guys- I got so fast. Even with a bum

I do the same thing with my creative life. If a task, that I know is manageable, makes it on my list I am gonna keep the promise and do it. Edit the session, write the blog post, pin all the content I produced that week. As women, we are REALLY good at keeping promises to others. Other people often get the best of us. Once I started keeping promises to myself, LIFE CHANGED. I am worthy of being held accountable by myself. Write a task and keep the promise. Over time, every task you write will be a promise and keeping that promise will become a habit. This makes you a great employee of yourself. You become reliable and dependable instead of
