Three Marketing Tricks to Try: - 🌸 Patterns: Of Three Marketing Tricks to Try:
-
🌸 Patterns: Often it is the overwhelm of what kind or content to post and how much to post that keeps us quiet. If you choose a pattern, for example: one reel, two carousel posts + 3 story posts/weekday, you have the beginning of a marketing foundation. If you are sticking to a marketing plan, and you know what you are trying to book and you also know the type of content you want to create, a lot of the indecision is taken away and you gain clarity. You can plug content related to what you are trying to book into your pattern.
-
🌸Time-Chunking: Figure out how long you can be productive doing ACTIVE tasks. For example, I can edit for about and hour and half BUT I can only create content for IG or social media for about 45 minutes before my mind starts to get bored and distract myself. So I know that if I give myself a time chunk of marketing for 45 minutes, I can stay focused during that chunk. For that 45 minute chunk I am ONLY doing the 2-3 marketing tasks that I told myself I was going to do. I am not also checking email, scrolling or responding to DMS. I am Keeping the Promise of doing the work I said I was going to do within this 45 minute period.
-
🌸Batching: Let’s say you give yourself an hour to create a reel. Since you are already in that the creation mindset and gave yourself time + space for reel making, once you begin that work, you might find that you can get yourself in the groove of creating that type of content and if you can finish out 3 reels and you know your marketing pattern includes one reel a week, you have now made 3 reels of content and helped future you stick to the pattern.
-
These are three tricks rooted in habit that’ll lead to a stronger marketing foundation.
At a newborn session last week, a client asked if At a newborn session last week, a client asked if I ever shoot outside at newborn shoots- yes! Especially in spring and summer I love to finish the session with a few outside 🌸
Episode 3 has dropped! - This week we will be chat Episode 3 has dropped!

This week we will be chatting about three helpful marketing tricks: patterns, time-chunking and batching.

Often it is the overwhelm of what kind or content to post and how much to post that keeps us quiet. We know what we are tying to book and what we would like potential clients to connect with but when we go to post, we sit back because we don't have a foundation of what to say and where.

These simple tricks can help!

This episode is sponsored by my online class Four Steps to Building a Trusted Family Photography Business. It takes  place on Feb 16th at 10:30am PST. ⭐️

We lucked out with pretty clouds and a splash of sun.
In the marketing class I teach, we go through what In the marketing class I teach, we go through what I consider the 4 steps of the process that a potential client goes through from discovering your work to you delivering their gallery.
-
The very first step is to Identify- NOT an ideal client, in this step you identify the type of art you love to create.
-
My outdoor work is established and I’m far removed from identifying what I like to shoot on that side of my brand (adventurous, golden light-loving, playful + snuggly families- they are the ones that lean into my style of outdoor work), I found myself back in the identify stage this fall as I tried a ton of different shoots in the studio to see what clicked.
-
I tried different groupings, ages, styling… and found that the sessions that clicked the most centered around motherhood and small babies.
-
I love the wild energy of toddlers and little ones but the studio is harder for them stand just in the right place for light, or stop running around at top speed to get in the picture 🤣 When we are outside, I’ll chase them till the sun sets but in this one room, it’s much easier to capture the size of humans who can’t run away from me yet lol.
-
When I was testing things out, I noticed that I was more drawn to the sessions artistically where clients wore white or beige - I didn’t have to worry about brighter tones from clothing color casting on to skin or the bright white walls.
-
The identify step is all about trial and error. It’s about finding that moment of ah-ha as you work out the details + leaning in (and saying no). It’s about chasing what makes your artist heart sing- because that song will carry you through the hard parts of this work: the slow seasons, the comparison, the creative ruts.
-
So if you are in this stage, hi! You’re doing great! The next step is Inspire where you draw in more folks who love what you create. I’m there now with the studio. I know I need patience and consistency and I’ll get no where chasing likes and follows. This is the business building stage where we must love the journey not yearn for the destination. We must lean into the process, not chase originality every time. It’s quiet, slower work. But good work, too. ❤️
My entire family struggles a bit with the WA winte My entire family struggles a bit with the WA winters. I always think we were perhaps meant to live in California- we thrive being outside, in the sun + adventuring.
-
So right now, I’m here: at this gorgeous golden glowy beach watching a spectacular sunset.
-
Maybe when I’m older, I’ll be a snow bird. I’ve spent the last ten years professionally chasing the sun- why stop when I’m old and grey 👵🏻 🌅 ❤️
